The object is narrow and thin, tapering from 10mm at the widest surviving part to 7mm at the narrowest. An elaborate quatrefoil shaped cast copper alloy harness pendant, with inlaid enamelling. Ashley believes that these elaborate harness pendants were a later development of the earlier pendants. This example displays 'arms which are allusive for England and France' (Ashley, 2002, p23). He goes on to state that such pendants are likely to have been made after 1340 'when the fleur-de-lis of France were quartered with the lions of England'. Although an earlier date cannot be ruled out, due to earlier known alliances between England and France. The pendant has four lobes, each with a small…

A complete Irish Medieval silver penny of Edward I, class 1b, c. 1279-1284. Dublin mint. Alan Smith kindly comments as follows: '... I think there may be a wrong image on here. As far I can see the image is definately a solid long cross Irish Edward 1st penny (second coinage) class 1b, the Obverse legend reads .EDW.R. / ANGL'D / NS.hYB' (unusually with a bar over the "S" and possibly a further mark at the end of the legend) The reverse reads CIVI / TAS / DUBL / INIE so definately Dublin mint............ as Seaby 6247 I believe'.
