An Early Medieval copper-allot stud/rivet, dating to c.AD 500 - 600. The stud is circular in plan and rectangular in section. The front of the stud has a chip carved design in the centre. In the centre of the stud is an annulet, radiating around the stud are four sets of three curved lines which create a lozenge style pattern. The outer boarder of the stud is undecoarated. An iron axehead of an uncertain date, dating to c.AD 800 - 1500. The axehead is triangular in plan and profile. The socket is sub-triangular in shape with a rectangular-shaped butt. The axehead tapers slightly before widening to a flared crescentic blade. The axehead has a mid orange patina with brown mottles. Length: 185 mm Weight: 109.21 Thickness: 41.42 mm Weight: 915 g The axehead appears to fit with Petersen Type G (Wheeler Type IV), a more direct date cannot be attributed as this type of axehead was used from the Early Medieval period through to the late Medieval.

A fragment of a copper alloy early-medieval/Anglo-Saxon (AD c.525-c.570) great square-headed brooch, missing everyting except the bow and part of the headplate. Overall, the fragment measures 48.6mm long, 32.1mm wide and 11.5mm thick. It weighs 18.6g. The surviving part of the headplate consists of the inner panel and small fragments of the second panel. The bow is almost completely intact, but nothing below it survives. The whole fragment is gilded but the the gilt has worn off the more exposed raised areas. Part of a copper alloy probable harness fitting which is likely to date from the tenth or eleventh century. It consists of two components which are linked with a hinge like fitting. The two elements are identical, apart from the tiny differences because they are finished by hand. Both elements have a further hinge fitting at the other end, suggesting that they form part of a chain of links. The two links together are 52.2mm long, 8.8mm wide and 5.4mm thick. A gilded lead horse harness pendant of post medieval date (c. 1700 - c.1800). It is in the form of an eight petalled flower, the lobate petals aranged around a cetral boss. Traces of gilding remain on all petals. The rear surface is flat and undecorated. There is a corroded iron pin 41 mm in length apparantly soldered as a replacement for the original suspension loop. Diameter is 39.5 mm, thickness 5.5 mm. Weight 38.4 g.

Early medieval gilded cast copper alloy brooch with remains of iron pin fastening on the reverse. Dating from the 8th century, the mount is in fair condition with some gilding, now rather flakey, still present in the crevices of the chip-carved decoration. While the brooch appears to be lozenge-shaped this is likely to be a result of damage to its edges and it it probable that it was circular. Tertiary flake, broken with striking platform and bulb of purcussion missing. Short, sub-parallel, abrupt retouch around distal end, extending, although shallower, part way along both sides. Complete but worn and corroded copper-alloy die for making pressed appliqué and filigree pendants of later Early Medieval date and of Viking cultural design. Such dies are known as Hiddensee-Rügen type. The die is essentially cross-shaped and has a plain, flat back. The main part of the die consists of three cross-shaped arms which are co-joined creating two openwork circular holes through the body of the die. A large flint core of early Mesolithic or early Neolithic date. The core is cylindrical with one platform and parallel striking of narrow blades. A copper alloy stirrup terminal dating from the eleventh century. The object is a C shaped hollow cone which is 33.8mm long, 27.1mm wide and 9.8mm thick. The top of the C is the mouth of the cone which is open and hollow. The terminal at the bottom of the C is forked with one thin and one thick fork, each with a rounded end. On the back of the C is a projecting semicircular flange which is decorated with incised lines which seem to form an interlace like pattern. The top of the flange is chipped. Copper alloy unidentified object. Cast object, flat on one flat side and with a prominent convex drum-shaped feature on the other, which is elsewhere flat with a median thickness of c.2.8mm. Kevin Leahy kindly suggests this may be a post-medieval hinge, as the lack of pin gear and drum shaped feature disqualify it from being an Early Anglo-Saxon brooch. A fragment of an Early medieval, probably 8th century, copper alloy circular pinhead or brooch with traces of gilding. Part of the circumference survives along with panels of single-strand, non-zoomorphic, interlace and part of a volute-shaped element. This object is truncated but the curvature of the surviving edge suggests an original diameter of c. 30.0mm. A copper alloy strap end dating from the Early Medieval period. The strap end is 41.5mm long, 14.5mm wide and 5mm thick. It has a split attachment end from which the front plate is missing. A rivet survives in the back plate. The strap end then tapers to the central, narrowed part which is also the thickest part. This appear to be a very worn animal head motif in relief. Beneath this the strap end is lozenge shaped in plan and is decorated with recessed bands forming a lozenge shaped central element with a scroll on each side and a possible animal mask at the end. Probably a head plate fragment from a cast copper alloy Early Medieval Anglo Saxon Cruciform Brooch. The fragment is outlined with a plain raised border with a field of close-set horizontal lines running down the right side. The top of the fragment has the remains of a top knob in the form of a plate-like extension with the same close-set line decoration. The condition of the fragment is quite poor and looks like it has been burnt. The back of the fragment is plain. The length is 25.6mm, the width is 28.0mm, the thickness is 4.0mm and the weight is 10.56g.
