Medieval buckle and plate, c. 1270-1350, oval frame with and off-set bar, its outer edge in the form of a flat, angled plate with a central notch for the pin, which is now missing. The sides of the frame have a diamond shaped section. The plate is made from 1.5mm thick sheet metal, folded around the bar with a central notch for the pin. The plate is 35.6mm long and 19.9mm wide, its lower part being narrower and cut away, in its centre is a single large rivet, invisible on the upper part of the plate. Medieval strap end, c. 1200-1400, made from sheet copper alloy with two leaves separated by a spacer. Rectangular, with a double indentation at its upper edge and a curved lower edge with a central projection. Undecorated. Through its upper part is a single rivet. Similar strap ends have been found in London and dated to c. 1200-1400 (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, Fig. 96) Length 26.0mm, Width 13.8mm, Thickness 2.4mm, Mass 3.40g.
