Part of a cast copper alloy saddle pommel mount. The artefact is a short egg shape, open at one end, with a wide plate on one side at the base; this long rectangular plate has two holes with the remains of a third at the broken end. The main body is decorated with parallel lines along its length. This artefact dates to the 16th - 17th century.

An incomplete cast copper alloy strap end of medieval date. The object is the terminal part of the forked spacer from a composite strap end. The knop is acorn shaped with three stepped bands. The breaks are worn. The metal is a mid reddish-brown colour and is worn. The strap end is 22.3mm long, 17.3mm wide, 4.5mm thick and weighs 2.9g. Similar examples can be seen in Egan & Pritchard, p.144, fig.94, no's 672 & 673.

A cast copper alloy buckle plate of medieval date. The folded copper-alloy buckle plate has been notched to take the pin and at the edges to fit the buckle frame. It is pierced twice for the fixing to the strap rivets, one of these rivets remains in place the other is missing. The back plate is missing broken off at the fold in the area of the buckle. Dr Kevin Leahy suggests that the design of incised lines may be in the form of a bird.

A cast copper-alloy Iron Age linch pin terminal, which is the foot of the pin. The foot has a deep square socket, inside a cylindrical, tapering shaft. There is a collar around the mouth of the socket. The socket measures 11.2mm x 10.8mm at the opening and is 20mm deep. This square aperture would have held the iron pin, which has long since corroded away. A complete cast copper-alloy penannular brooch of Fowler type A dating to the Roman period. The frame survives intact, complete with the rounded, globular knopped terminals. The frame is oval and measures 31.4mm x 28.2mm. There is a collar next to the knops on both sides. The knops measure 8.4mm in diameter. The frame is a mid greyish-green colour but the metal surface is pitted. The pin survives intact, but it has been bent out of shape. A lead medieval seal matrix, flat with a looped lug on the reverse (now squashed). Pointed oval, 35.1 mm x 21.8mm. Lug at 12 o'clock position. The central motif is a tall and thin stylised fleur de lys. The inscription reads + S' AVICE MARSCAL (Seal of Avice Marshall). The M is rather unusual, looking a bit like an E on its side. is reading is rather uncertain due to the level of corrosion on the matrix and the way in which the letters have been drawn. It is a personal seal and features a name, rather than a motto. 13th century.

A cast copper-alloy Romano-British finger ring. The finger ring survives intact. The hoop is swollen, as it expands into the bezel. The hoop has a circular profile. The bezel is oval in shape and is undecorated. Some corrosion product can be seen on the surface. The metal surface is a dark brownish-green in colour. This ring probably dates to the 2nd- 3rd century AD.

A Roman copper-alloy button-and-loop fastener. This example does not easily fit into one of Wild’s classifications. It is similar to Class VII and IX. The button element of the fastener is formed from a rectangular bar, decorated with an incised groove – running down the middle (lengthways). Attached to the reverse of the bar is the loop, which extends out and bends at a right angle, forming a small rounded loop. No enamelling or other detail is evident. A complete 16th century copper-gilt dress fitting, with a large rectangular loop on the reverse. The fitting has three bosses, mounted on a triangular backplate. The backplate has a cusped outline (now heavily worn). The hemispherical bosses have been soldered onto the front and have been decorated with applied filigree circles and pellets. The object is hollow cast and the interior has engine milling for 8mm. This candle snuffer is likely to date from the 18th – 19th Century.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy key dating to the medieval period. The key comprises a hollow, circular-sectioned stem, which widens towards the bit. The tip measures 10mm in diameter. The stem of the key is decorated with incised parallel bands, in groups of three. Much of the surface of the stem is missing, due to heavy corrosion and pitting. An alternative function of these objects would have been as weights rather than gaming pieces.

A complete cast copper-alloy strap end. The strap end is formed from a folded sheet of copper alloy, it is triangular in shape. The back plate is slightly smaller than the front. There is an incised triangular border around the edge of the front plate. The apex of the triangle is a stylised animal head. There is a single iron rivet in the centre of the plates, holding the two together. The overall size is 27.3mm x 16.7mm x 3.9mm and the sheet is 1.2mm thick. This strap end dates to the 11th - 12th Century.

An Anglo-Saxon strap end, Thomas class B, type 1. The strap end is made of one piece of cast copper-alloy. This strap end dates to the 8th - 11th century. The strap end has a fan-shaped attachment end, which has three rivet holes arranged in a triangle with a decorative ring and dot in the centre. Below the attachment end the strap end then gets much thinner, with a rectangular section and terminates with what should be a zoomorphic head. The head is highly stylised. The reverse of the strap end is flat and undecorated. The metal is mid reddish-brown in colour.

A small cleft has been formed on either side of the bit, therefore forming four wards. The surface is a mid brownish-green colour and is pitted. The key is medieval in date. The cast copper-alloy foot of an early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch, circa 450-600 in date, the rest of the brooch is missing due to old breaks. The lower edge of the half-round panel survives with transverse moulding across it at the break. A 2nd century cast copper-alloy disc brooch. The brooch is a small, flat and circular. The front surface of the brooch has been decorated with six raised copper alloy pellets. The surrounding fields are enamelled but the colour is uncertain. There is a hole through the centre of the brooch, which is surrounded by a raised ring. The brooch also has a slight rim. The reverse of the brooch is undecorated. The catchplate and the hinged lug have been arranged longitudinally on the reverse of the brooch. Both survive intact. The pin is missing. A cast copper alloy Roman brooch, which has been difficult to pin down to a specific type as a parallel could not be found within the normal literature. The brooch has a rectangular head, with a rectangular recess behind it. The edges of which are semi-circular and pierced, through this an axis bar has been slotted and this holds the spring in place. The spring has four turns but the pin has broken off. Above the head the broken remains of a loop can be seen. An incomplete copper-alloy closed mirror case. Only the top plate survives and it is broken. The main body of the plate has been formed from a flat plate of copper alloy, with three parallel, pronged extensions. Inside these prongs are two further teeth, which are pierced. There is an axis bar running through the centre of the prongs and teeth, holding them all together and allowing them to operate as a hinge mechanism. An incomplete cast copper-alloy double looped sub-oval asymmetrical buckle, with a separate strap and pin bar. The pin is missing, but there is a pin recess. The metal is pitted and is a mid blackish-brown colour. These buckles date from circa 1350 - 1450. Similar types of buckles can be seen in Whitehead (2003), p87.

A cast copper alloy cosmetic mortar. The cosmetic mortar is an elongated crescent in profile with an integral loop beneath one terminal. The loop is circular with a slightly oval hole, only half of the loop survives- the breaks are worn. The body of the mortar is 'U' shaped in section, which tapers in width and depth towards each terminal becoming shallower. The base of the mortar is slightly rounded. The terminal without the loop, terminates with a slightly indented tip. The surface of the mortar has a pitted and is a mid brownish-green patina. Similar end-looped cosmetic mortars …

An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from 75-175 AD. Behind the head there is a circular loop which would have held the spring / pin mechanism in place. The head is shaped like the bell of a trumpet and it is multi-facted. The entire spring / pin mechanism has been lost. The pin no longer survives. There is a small projection at the apex of the head. An incomplete cast copper-alloy strap slide, dating to between the 1st century BC and the 1st century AD. The front face of the slide consists of an oval plate with pointed ends. The points have shallow arrises and there is a large dominant design in the centre. The design features a large circular dome, inside a circular groove.
