A fragment of a cast copper alloy Roman brooch, probably a Rosette Keyhole type. The semi-tubular wings have a tubular copper alloy insert which contains an iron axis bar for the hinged pin mechanism. Fragments of the copper alloy pin are visible through a slot in the centre of the tubular insert. The bow is set at a ninety-degree angle to the wings and the flat circular part of the bow is set parallel to the wings. A complete cast copper-alloy penannular brooch of Fowler type A dating to the Roman period. The frame survives intact, complete with the rounded, globular knopped terminals. The frame is oval and measures 31.4mm x 28.2mm. There is a collar next to the knops on both sides. The knops measure 8.4mm in diameter. The frame is a mid greyish-green colour but the metal surface is pitted. The pin survives intact, but it has been bent out of shape. A cast copper-alloy Romano-British finger ring. The finger ring survives intact. The hoop is swollen, as it expands into the bezel. The hoop has a circular profile. The bezel is oval in shape and is undecorated. Some corrosion product can be seen on the surface. The metal surface is a dark brownish-green in colour. This ring probably dates to the 2nd- 3rd century AD.

A Roman copper-alloy button-and-loop fastener. This example does not easily fit into one of Wild’s classifications. It is similar to Class VII and IX. The button element of the fastener is formed from a rectangular bar, decorated with an incised groove – running down the middle (lengthways). Attached to the reverse of the bar is the loop, which extends out and bends at a right angle, forming a small rounded loop. No enamelling or other detail is evident. The entire length of the object is 18.2mm x 15.2mm x 10.8mm. The loop measure 10.6mm x 10.6mm. Wild suggests that this type…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy spoon dating to the first to third century AD. The circular concave bowl is incomplete at one end. The circular-section stem extends from the underside of the bowl. The inside of the bowl has some traces of white-metal coating. The diameter of the bowl is 24.5mm, the depth is 5.0mm, the diameter of the handle is 3.4mm and the weight is 3.90g. As it has a circular bowl, the spoon can be classified as a Type 1 (Crummy 1983, 69).

A 2nd century cast copper-alloy disc brooch. The brooch is a small, flat and circular. The front surface of the brooch has been decorated with six raised copper alloy pellets. The surrounding fields are enamelled but the colour is uncertain. There is a hole through the centre of the brooch, which is surrounded by a raised ring. The brooch also has a slight rim.
