A fragment of a copper alloy early-medieval/Anglo-Saxon (AD c.525-c.570) great square-headed brooch, missing everyting except the bow and part of the headplate. Overall, the fragment measures 48.6mm long, 32.1mm wide and 11.5mm thick. It weighs 18.6g. The surviving part of the headplate consists of the inner panel and small fragments of the second panel. The bow is almost completely intact, but nothing below it survives. The whole fragment is gilded but the the gilt has worn off the more exposed raised areas. The inner panel of the headplate is decorated with an inverted face mask.…

A tongue-shaped terminal from an Early Medieval copper-alloy possible great square-headed brooch. The fragment suggests the brooch has been torn and broken. At the break is a pair of scrolled side projections. The brooch has a rivet and a separate sheet fitting on the back. On the front are four concentric U-shaped ridges which enclose a central oval ridge at the upper edge of which the rivet is visible. The ridges are randomly decorated with punched decoration.

A flint tranchet axehead or pick of Neolithic date, about 4000 BC - 2500 BC. It is formed on mid to light grey flint. It is sub-rectangular in plan with one rounded end (the cutting edge) and slightly convex sides. It is a thick asymetrical oval in section, one face being shallower than the other. Both sides are covered with large flaked removals, leaving no cortex. The butt is narrow (19mm wide and 5.3mm thick) and fairly square. The cuttin edge is convex and is 33.5mm wide and 5mm thick. A complete copper alloy mount of Early-Medieval date. The mount is triquetra in form with a flat, rectangular profile. The upper surface is decorated with an intricate carved interlace design which retains gilding. The exact nature of the decoration is difficult to determine due to wear though an intertwining rope work-style border appears to be present around each loop and into the centre panel.
