A lead pad or trial piece from a die stamp of early Anglo-Saxon (7th century) date. The object is flat and sub-rectangular with rounded corners, and has a worn break to one end. A shallow impression has been made on one side, almost certainly by a die stamp for making impressed foil mounts. The decoration is in Salin's Style II, framed within a tapering sub-rectangular border and with rounded lobes at the surviving end.
