Leaf-shaped Neolithic flint knife or oval side scraper dating from c. 3000-2100BC. This object appears to have been bifacially flaked suggesting that it is a knife. However, we do not have a side view for this object (only two images were provided by the finder) so we cannot be certain. It looks to have pressure flaking on dorsal side. It was probably formed on tertiary debitage rather than a deliberate stuck core.

An incomplete bone knife handle of Early-Medieval date. Two fragments of the handle remain which fit together at the breaks. The handle is sub-rectangular, tapering from the wider broken end to the narrower flattened terminal. The section is trapezoidal with a flat top and base and bevelled sides. Object, probably Medieval made from copper alloy and iron consisting of a copper alloy socket into which is fitted a highly corroded iron fitting. While it is possible that this had a complex, expanding form it is likely that its present shape was produced by corrosion products. Where revealed the iron has the fibrous appearance characteristic of wrought iron. The copper alloy socket 41.3mm long and tapers from 15.0mm diameter at its open mouth to 11.2mm near to the point where it joins the iron element. A complete knapped lithic implement of Neolithic date (circa 4000-2350BC). The implement is most likely a knife, although could be a small Neolithic hand-axe shaped implement known as an 'Ovate' dating to the Late Neolithic (3000-2350BC). However, the implement is not bifacially worked to the extent expected of an Ovate. The implement appears to have been knapped from a primary flake, from which secondary and tertiary flakes have been removed from the ventral surface. Dark grey flint knife. Oval knife with abrupt hard hammer working from various directions covering both sides. There is a suggestion of battering along one edge of what may have been the dorsal aspect, to judge from the curved profile of the flake. Dr Kevin Leahy kindly suggests that the low angle retouch should suggest the identification of this object as a knife, rather than a scraper, which was the initial suggestion advanced by this reporter. Mottled grey flint with cortex at edge knife. Oval flake with long broad parallel flake removal scars on its dorsal side, and with broader scars on the ventral, the latter probably struck from the other end but in both cases with prominent rippling. Together these conferred a sharp cutting edge. Suggested date: Bronze Age, 2350-801. Length: 51.8mm, Width: 36.5mm, Thickness: 8.2mm, Weight: 17.63gms.

An iron whittle tanged knife of Roman to Medieval date. The blade measures 93.02mm in length and the tang 13.17mm in length. The tang is incomplete. Each edge is slightly curved with the cutting edge measuring 1.28mm thick and the opposite edge measuring 2.07mm. The knife terminates with a rounded point. The surfaces of the object are uneven due to corrosion. It is mid-brown in colour. The form is of Manning's Roman Type 16, which he says is a long-live type. A Roman iron knife blade and a cast copper alloy scabbard fitting, found together. The knife measures 125mm in length, 16.5mm in width and 6mm in thickness and it weighs 33.24g. The scabbard fitting, which came from the top of the sheath measures 35mm x 11.5mm x 8mm and the metal is c. 1.2mm thick. It weighs 10.07g. This type of knife is long-lived, but the scabbard mount probably dates from the earlier Roman period, that is the 1st or 2nd century AD. A complete knapped lithic implement of Bronze Age date, circa 2350 - 800 BC. The implement is a large knife formed from a primary flake which is ovate in plan and D-shaped in section. Both surfaces are irregular with numerous flakes having been removed and roughly 90% cortex is retained on the dorsal surface and 50% on the ventral surface. Shallow semi-invasive retouch is present along the distal edge and into the both the left and right edges. The flint is a dark brownish-grey colour with lighter inclusions. The implement is 46.2mm long, 59.9mm wide, 13.8mm thick and weighs 41.9g.

A fragment of a cast copper-alloy late Roman knife. The surviving section depicts a horses head. The neck is oval in cross section (8.5mm in length, 5.9mm wide) and narrows towards the throttle before expanding towards the mandible. A cast copper alloy object with Anglo-Scandinavian zoomorphic decoration cast on two sides. D-shaped in plan, with a small step at the base and a small iron tang projecting from the centre of the base. An incomplete post-medieval iron knife with probably a bone handle. The whittle-tang iron blade is incomplete and survives in a very corroded and fragmentary state. A complete Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age flint knife of an opaque brown/orange coloured flint. The dorsal face has invasive scaled retouch mainly on the distal and right edge, though there is also some short retouch on the left edge. The ventral face is plain with a small bulb of percussion and the proximal end still has the striking platform. An iron object, probably a fragment of a knife handle. The object shows signs of moulded decoration, in the form of possibly two opposing animal heads, facing in opposite directions.
