An incomplete Middle Iron Age copper alloy brooch, dating to c. 250-100 BC. Adams, 2013, Type 2Ba3. The pin is missing. The brooch has three sub-oval cone-shaped hollow bosses in a line, creating a scalloped edge on each side. Each boss has a setting in the apex for coral or enamel, now missing. At each end of the brooch is a transverse collar and an elongated knop similar to an acorn shape which extends from the base of the cone. The cones thus are raised up from the ends. The head bears a central motif of three nested rectangles enclosing a horizontal rib, with an outer border of closely juxtaposed stamped circles of diameter 1mm. Terminal from a late Early Medieval copper alloy penannular brooch, probably Irish and of 9th century date. The terminal is flat, triangular, and is rectangular in section. Although all three sides have patches of corrosion, the original wall can be seen thus demonstrating this is a terminal. A copper-alloy Medieval annular brooch dating to the period c.AD 1200-1300. The brooch is broadly ovate in plan, with a rectangular cross-section. A zoomorphic head projects from the middle point of each long edge, and curves around to point inwards. It is likely that these represent snakes. The reverse is undecorated, although has a constriction at each apex to acommodate the pin, which is now missing. A green-brown patina is on the surface, as well as traces of gilding. A fragment of a copper alloy Early Medieval brooch, a Great Square Headed brooch dating from AD 500 - 600. The surviving piece is part of the footplate with the pin catchplate on the reverse. The catchplate extends into a central rib. Both ends and both sides of the brooch are broken, though there is a small length of the original edge surviving. The fragment is decorated with a central rib springing from possible nostrils and with a large convex pellet near the upper break. To each side is a ladder-like ribbon with transverse grooves. An almost complete copper alloy brooch of Early Medieval date, late 8th-9th century. The brooch is circular in plan and flat with zoomorphic and openwork decoration. An Early Medieval copper-alloy Cross Brooch. The brooch was original cross-shaped, but two of the arms are now incomplete. Each arm is sub-rectangular in plan, being slightly wider at the terminal than at the centre of the cross. The perimeter is decorated by a single linear groove.
