A copper-alloy Medieval annular brooch dating to the period c.AD 1200-1300. The brooch is broadly ovate in plan, with a rectangular cross-section. A zoomorphic head projects from the middle point of each long edge, and curves around to point inwards. It is likely that these represent snakes. The reverse is undecorated, although has a constriction at each apex to acommodate the pin, which is now missing. A green-brown patina is on the surface, as well as traces of gilding. An incomplete probable silver-gilt Thealby brooch of Roman date. The head of the brooch is comprised of rectangular wings the reverse of which act as a double lug hinge mechanism for the pin. The pin no longer remains and patches of copper corrosion mark the remains of the axis bar within the lugs. An integral circular attachment loop projects from a rectangular bar set centrally on the upper edge of the head. A copper alloy Medieval penannular brooch dating from about AD 1000-1400 and of a type from the Finno-Ugrian areas of Russia. The brooch has a wire loop of 25.2mm diameter. The wire is sub-circular in section and is 2.2mm diameter. The terminals of the penannular hoop are long flat triangular plates, made in one with the hoop. They are decorated along the outer edge of each terminal with an incised zig-zag line and have a circular hole of about 1.8mm diameter in the rounded outer corner. Surface metal analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated an approximate silver content for the brooch fragment of 89% with copper, lead, gold and tin also detected; it weighs 3.51 grams. A fragmentary copper alloy Early Medieval Great Square Headed Brooch of which only the bow survives. The fragment is rectangular and arched. It has a central vertical ridge with a circular boss in the middle. Chip carved decoration is present on either side of the central ridge though corrosion and dirt obscure the details of the pattern which is in Anglo Saxon Style I animal art style. An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from 75-175 AD. Behind the head there is a circular loop which would have held the spring / pin mechanism in place. A cast copper alloy Roman brooch, which has been difficult to pin down to a specific type as a parallel could not be found within the normal literature. The brooch has a rectangular head, with a rectangular recess behind it. The edges of which are semi-circular and pierced, through this an axis bar has been slotted and this holds the spring in place. A lead alloy early Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch which is broken with two large fragments surviving and other parts missing. The brooch has a rectangular head with a raised central panel.
