A Roman copper-alloy button-and-loop fastener. This example does not easily fit into one of Wild’s classifications. It is similar to Class VII and IX. Object type: LINCH PIN
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: East Riding of Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

There is a collar around the mouth of the socket. The socket measures 11.2mm x 10.8mm at the opening and is 20mm deep. The curve of the shaft is joined to the plate at the top and the base of the plate is joined to the m…

Object type: SWORD
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: North Yorkshire

This object was originally recorded as "Knife / dagger pommel" but the image but the image has been manipulated in order to make it clearer and it is now appears to show three views of a curved guard from a late Iron Age sword. It may be compared to an example from Llyn Cerrig Bach, Anglesey (Savory, 1976, Fig. 24.1). Other parallels exist on the PAS database (NMS-C4D772 and HESH-ECC623) and it is notable that the tops of many surviving Iron Age scabbards have the same curved profile as seen on this find (Jope, 2000, Plates 203-9)
