The pendant (1) was discovered during building of a new trackway by Mr. Doyle. Subsequently Bournemouth University undertook a small-scale excavation, which recovered all other items listed (2-4). An incomplete gilded copper alloy early medieval strip brooch dating to the period c. AD 700 - 800. The pin and part of the plate are missing. The brooch consists of a plate which would have originally been lozengiform, but is now triangular due to an old horizontal break running across the plate. The plate is decorated with an incised pattern, possibly a coiled zoomorphic beast within two concentric lozengiform ridges. The obverse of the plate retains a substantial amount of gilding. A cast copper alloy casket key of Goodall's Winchester type 1. The long drop-shaped bow is openwork with a large curvilinear "keyhole" shaped aperture at the rear and a smaller oval one in front. The stem is short and solid, with a step to a narrowed projecting tip. The bit is rectangular with a single square cleft at the top of the leading edge; at the bottom of the bit is a small right-angled projecting ward, giving the bit an L-shaped cross-section. A cast single loop buckle frame. The frame is oval with a thickened outer edge. The outer edge is decorated with two animal heads. There is a groove between the heads as a pin rest. The heads are very worn , but appear to have recesses for the ears and squared-off snouts. The frame is narrowed from the outer edge and has an oval cross section. Identified by Kevin Leahy as an Anglo-Scandinavian brooch of 11th Century date. Date: Early Medieval - c.1000 - 1100 Dimensions: 8.64 mm x 3.01 mm x 1.83 mm Weight: 1.99 g

An incomplete cast copper alloy pin. The shaft is circular in cross section and tapers to the break point (from 3.12 mm to 2.49 mm) The head is disc shaped and has a concentric ridge framing a groove around a central domed projection. Below the head is a narrow ridge or collar around the shaft. Dr Kevin Leahy has suggested an Iron Age date for this pin. A cast, copper alloy zoomorphic double hooked clasp. The body of the clasp is in the form of two outward facing animal heads separated by a squared central knop on the upper surface. The necks of the beast heads are decorated with cast chevrons pointing outwards. The heads are cast in the round and have ears set at the sides of the heads, a raised brow with slight eye recesses, elongated and ridged mussels and two nostril holes on the snub-ended snouts.
