Cast copper alloy mount, one end flattened and folded back to from a loop through which is a rivet. At the other end is a second, larger rivet by which the mount was secured to the strap. Between these two elements is a lozenge shaped panel bearing a cross (or a fleur) set within an incised lozenge. These are inlaid with blue and red enamel. Mounts of this type may have been used to secure purses or attachment loops to belts (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 219-224, Fig. 140). In London these objects were dated to 1350-1450.

It was described as the 'Lower half of a lead figurine, most probably a toy. Skirt very pleated'. An examination of works on lead toys (Forsyth and Egan 2005) and pilgrim badges (Spencer 1998) failed to find any parallels and it is possible that it represents the remains of one of the so called 'bird feeders' (these are too narrow and deep to have allowed a bird to feed or drink). This object was described as the blank for a seal matrix but some caution must be exercised, in addition to the lack of an inscription, a lug and fleur-de-lys on the back it should be noted that this object is smaller than any of the other lead matrices recorded by the Scheme, most having a length of around 30mm, not the 25.2mm seen here.

Around the other end of the shaft is a groove to allow it to be fixed, with other scoops, to a revolving drum, picking up seed for spreading. Pin of possible Roman date, The head is globular with flattened upper and lower faces, it is seated centrally on the shank which has three grooves as decoration below the head. The shank then tapers, undecorated to a blunt point and is slightly bent at the mid-point at c. 170°. The pin has a brown/green patina. Dr Kevin Leahy writes: While mouldings beneath the heads is a feature of Middle Anglo-Saxon pins the multiple mouldings/grooves on this example are more a feature of Roman pins as is its tapering shank. On balance it is best assigned to the Roman period.

Unusual lead alloy pendant. Although very worn, the face of the pendant appears to have had human or zoomorphic designs, almost resembling the type commonly found on gold bracteates. The reverse of the pendant has unusual incised 'free-hand' decoration, the meaning of which is unclear. There appears to be a large circle containing a smaller circle and vertical line. To the above left and right of the outer circle are two triangles, each enclosing a letter. A complete copper-alloy penannular brooch of Fowler's type F (British Class 1). The hoop is circular in cross-section, measuring 3mm in diameter. The two terminals are of a very stylised zoomorphic form. Each has a slightly widened and faceted collar leading into an animal head. The heads are rectangular in plan and in cross-section, and have a small facet in each corner. The surface facets are only contained on the upper side of the brooch. A post Medival copper alloy pin. The pin consists of a circular section shaft which tapers to a point at one end. The shaft is bent. At the other end the shaft splits in two and these are coiled back on themselves to form a decorative head. The pin measures 35.3mm in length. Dr Kevin Leahy writes: While scroll-headed pins are known from the Early Medieval period the form of this example seem more in keeping with the post Medieval exampes such as the finds from Meols (Griffiths et all, 2007, Pl. 46, Nos. 3092, 3093) for which a late early sixteenth century date is suggested.

Ornate copper-alloy pin head of Roman date. Possibly a hairpin. Only a 3.2mm length of the pin shaft remains attached to the head. It is circular in section with a diameter of 2.5mm. The pin head can be divided into three sections. The first section, immediately above the shaft, consists of a small four-sided block measuring 4.3mm high and 5.3mm wide on each of its four sides. A complete copper-alloy finger ring. This finger ring consists of a rectangular shaped decorated hoop, the tapering terminals of which overlap. It measures 23.9mm in external diameter and 20mm in internal diameter, the hoop is 10mm in width at its widest point and tapers to 7mm in width at its narrowest, it is c2mm thick. Copper alloy strap-end dating to the 8th century and of Anglo-Carolingian origin. The strap-end is rectangular shaped and measures 30mm in length and 23mm in width. At one end of the strap-end there are three circular perforations (measuring 4mm in diameter)in a horizontal row for rivets to attach to the strap or belt. Copper alloy buckle dating to 11th century. The buckle frame is square shaped with a narrow bar. The part of the frame opposite the bar is wider and decorated. The decoration is worn but could be a leaf or knot design (possibly Viking Borre style) at the top and bottom with a notch for the pin between. The front decorated face of the buckle has evidence of gilding whilst the reverse of the buckle has been silvered or tinned although only part of this surface treatment survives. The buckle weighs 5.5g and measures 22mm in width, 21.5mm in length and 4.2mm in thickness.

Copper alloy gilded early Anglo-Saxon mount. The mount has a detailed Style 1 zoomorphic design on the front, dating to the latter half of the 6th century. The hind leg and eye of a quadruped can be seen. The reverse is plain and undecorated with no sign of gilding and is quite worn and corroded. It appears that there are no original surviving edges on the piece and these have all broken away. The mount is reminiscent of the vandyke mounts found on Anglo-Saxon drinking horns such as those found at Sutton Hoo or Taplow. These are elongated triangular mounts found around the rim o…
