22 pieces of worked flint from broad blade industry. 13 flakes bear traces of cortex on the outer surface of the flint pebbles. The industry appears to have been based on flint from the gravels, but there are two pieces of Wold’s flint. 5 pieces show signs of retouch/use.

A late Mesolithic to Neolithic flint saw of a translucent light brown flint. The dorsal face has denticulation down one edge and cortex at one end. The ventral face is concoidal. The length is 20.4mm, the width is 14.6mm, the thickness is 4.3mm and the weight is 1.15g.

A Mesolithic or Neolithic flint blade/knife. It has been formed from a piece of translucent grey flint. The bulb of percussion, striking platform and ripples of percussion all survive. There is steep retouch down one side. The reverse is flat.

A worked piece of flint of Mesolithic to Bronze Age date. The flint is roughly triangular in shape with evidence in the form of ripples of p[ercussion of numerous flakes having been removed from one face. This face also has a patch of cortex regrowth. The flint has an opaque greyish-white patina and is 45.9mm long, 34.4mm wide and weighs 17.8g.

A piece of natural flint of probable Mesolithic to early Bronze Age date. The flint is a light reddish-orange colour and shows starch fractures. It has a roughly lozenge shaped section and roughly oval plan. The flint is 56.4mm long, 23.8mm wide, 10.5mm thick and weighs 17.6g.

A complete flint pickaxe, probably dating from the Mesolithic period (c. 10,000 BC to c. 4,001 BC). This would appear to be a double-ended implement, with a pick at one end and an axe-like blade at the other. Most of the surface of the original nodule has been removed, but one side in particular retains a significant portion of its cortex. The narrowest point is at the pick end, where the surfaces have been deliberately sloped to point, which exhibits signs of wear. The sides gradually diverge from this point, the implement reaching a maximum width approximately one third of the way…
