Object, probably Medieval made from copper alloy and iron consisting of a copper alloy socket into which is fitted a highly corroded iron fitting. While it is possible that this had a complex, expanding form it is likely that its present shape was produced by corrosion products. Where revealed the iron has the fibrous appearance characteristic of wrought iron. The copper alloy socket 41.3mm long and tapers from 15.0mm diameter at its open mouth to 11.2mm near to the point where it joins the iron element. It has 1.8mm thick walls and iron can be seen at the base of the 29mm deep socket…

A decorative copper alloy plate from a buckle the form of the frame, the short rear part of the plate and the shape of the apertures seem to point to a med date 12th - 13th century AD. The buckle is largely flat, 'D' shaped and plain with bevelling to the upper surface on the outer edge of the frame. There is also a protruding knop that may well be zoomorphic in style. The pin is copper alloy and broken but the loop and part of the pin is still intact. The plate is open work moulded, rectangular with three equal-sized rectangular apertures, each extending into a sub-oval perforation a…

The thickness of the blade gradually tapers, towards the convex cutting edge. Two arms form the sides and the third arm is the bar. All three arms are ‘D’-shaped in cross-section, flat at the rear. Each arm is roughly the same length and at each corner there is a small boss, possibly zoomorphic. However, due to corrosion and possibly wear, this is uncertain. The bar has a small constriction for the copper alloy wire pin. Only the loop of the pin has survived. The brooch has a mid-green pa…

A cast copper alloy unidentified object. The object measures 28.1mm by 11.7mm by 5.6mm and weighs 4.4g. It consists of two oval loops which are separated by a rounded collar (diameter 5.2mm). The outside edge of one of the loops is slightly narrower, presumably due to wear. It superficially resembles an early-medieval bit-link but according to David Williams it is much too small for this purpose. Kevin Leahy has suggested that it could be a single link from a cast copper alloy chain, possibly of medieval date.
