Cast copper alloy buckle and plate, D-shaped buckle frame with narrowed offset bar and roller. Outside edge is narrowed to accommodate the roller which bears a central groove. Pin end missing. Long folded buckle-plate, incised dotted line around the edge, five rivets with expanded top standing proud of the face of the plate. Counter plate shorter and narrower. Traces of gilding on front, back and frame. In London a buckle of this form was found in a context dated to the late twelfth century but the plate is best paralleled by an example dated to 1270-1350 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 76,…

Cast copper alloy buckle frame, off-set bar, the form of the outer edge suggest that it was fitted with a sheet metal roller. This buckle can be paralleled by examples from context dated to 1270-1350 in London (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 76, Fig. 46, Nos. 315, 317).

Cast copper alloy spur buckle, oval hoop with a trapezoid integral plate through which are two rivets. Plate has bevelled edges and terminated in a square panel from which curves a hook. Traces of gilding. Whitehead dates spur buckle of this form the thirteen-fourteenth century.

This area of the frame has a D shaped section (flat edge on inside) the sides of the frame are flat sectioned. In London these fittings were dated to the late twelfth to late fourteenth centuries (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, 233)

Cast copper alloy buckle originally fitted with a locking bar, now missing. Frame rectangular and divided by a wide, transverse swivelling pin. The outer edge of the frame has a flat section and the inner edge a round section. Whitehead dates buckle of this form to c.1350-1450.

Cast copper alloy pin from a buckle or brooch, round sectioned shank, 3.8mm diameter, one end with a blunt point the other curved around to form a loop. Between the shank and loop is a transverse moulding. In London pins of this form were found in contexts dating to between 1270-1400 (Egan and Pritchard, 1991, 115).

Cast copper alloy strap mound, bar shaped with a central domed boss (solid, not hollow cast). Linked to this by short bars are two perforated bosses, one still containing a rivet, by which the mount was attached to a strap. In London mounts similar to this, but with a hole through the central boss, were found in contexts dated to 1150-1350 (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 213, Fig. 134, Nos. 1154, 1157, 1158).

Cast copper alloy mount, one end flattened and folded back to from a loop through which is a rivet. At the other end is a second, larger rivet by which the mount was secured to the strap. Between these two elements is a lozenge shaped panel bearing a cross (or a fleur) set within an incised lozenge. These are inlaid with blue and red enamel. Mounts of this type may have been used to secure purses or attachment loops to belts (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 219-224, Fig. 140). In London these objects were dated to 1350-1450.
