Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete knapped lithic implement of Bronze Age date, circa 2500 - 1500BC. The implement is a button scraper formed from a secondary flake which is ovate in plan and D-shaped in section. The ventral surface is smooth with no bulb of percussion or striking platform remaining. The dorsal surface has been extensively worked and displays long, abrupt, parallel retouch around the distal end. The flint is a chalky white colour. The implement is 22.2mm long, 18.2mm wide, 8.3mm thick and weighs 3.5g. Scrapers are fairly ubiquitous throughout prehistory and are generally less chronolog…

A complete knapped lithic implement of Bronze Age date, circa 2350 - 800 BC. The implement is a large knife formed from a primary flake which is ovate in plan and D-shaped in section. Both surfaces are irregular with numerous flakes having been removed and roughly 90% cortex is retained on the dorsal surface and 50% on the ventral surface. Shallow semi-invasive retouch is present along the distal edge and into the both the left and right edges. The flint is a dark brownish-grey colour with lighter inclusions. The implement is 46.2mm long, 59.9mm wide, 13.8mm thick and weighs 41.9g.

Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: BRONZE AGE
County: East Riding of Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A knapped lithic implement of early Bronze Age date. The implement is roughly figure of eight-shaped in plan with an irregular plano-convex section. Evidence of knapping is only present in one area of the implement where a semi-circular notch has been created with steep sides which taper to form a sharp edge. The limited knapping suggests this piece was a naturally occurring flint with the notch removed for a function. The flint is a mid whitish-brown colour with no evidence of cortex re-growth. The implement is 66.2mm long, 37.6mm wide, 15.5mm thick and weighs 36.1g.

A knapped lithic implement of early Bronze Age date. The implement is roughly D-shaped in plan with a rectangular protrusion and a plano-convex section. Cortex remains covering roughly 90% of the entire object and is smooth texture and light brownish-white in colour.
