A medieval English copper alloy jetton of the 'sterling bust' type, the king's bust with the same detail as on penny coins of the same date. The jetton has a small neat bust similar to an Edwardian penny class 10 (Mitchiner, 1988, 95), struck under Edward I and Edward II, c.1300-1310). There is a central circular hole on the obverse, common on these jettons to prevent them being silvered and passed as coins. It does not pierce through to the reverse, indeed there is a slight raised pellet to the reverse at this point. Cf.Mitchiner 1988; 98-100, nos.96-113.
