An incomplete copper alloy unidentified object of probable Roman date, AD 43-410. It is sub-triangular in shape but missing its apex and with the opposite edge to this cut into three triangular crenelations. To the front the object is convex and to the reverse concave. At the old break the edge measures 16.7mm, widening over 28.9mm to 36.2mm at the crenelated edge. The inside edge of the outer two triangles is decorated on the convex face with six transverse grooves, each with a V-shaped cross-section. A cast copper alloy anthropomorphic mount or escutcheon probably from a vessel and dating to the Roman period (AD 43-410). The mount is solid and flat to the reverse, with moulded decoration to the front in the form of a probable male figure with a short fringe decorated with naturalistic irregularly placed short curving grooves. The hair-line stops short of the ears, a moulded C-shaped with a hollowing at the centre.
