A fragment from a vessel, probably a jug or a small amphora of Roman date, circa Ad 43-410.  The fragment consists of a small section of rim and body that contains the remains of the handle. The remains of the handle have a width of 42.3 mm. The fabric is a cream colour with frequent inclusions between 1 to 2 mm in size. The fabric is abraded in the internal surface.  The fragment measures 63.2 mm in height, 61.1 mm in width, 19 mm in thickness and weighs 57.4 grams.

A medieval rim sherd. The colour of the sherd is inconsistent: the salmon inner surface is the most uniform in colour, and the margins are mostly grey save for the top of the rim which is also salmon-coloured. The outer surface has areas of salmon as well as grey, but also features two distinct areas of green glaze which retains its sheen. The fabric is largely abraded and contains abundant grey inclusions as well as quartz. Mica inclusions are more sparsely visible. On the inner surface towards the top of the rim and the margin there is a significant void of 6.1mm in length.…

A sherd from a vessel dating to the medieval period. The fabric is predominantly grey in colour except for the inner surface which is salmon-coloured, and for some areas of the core and margins where there are sections of brown. The texture is grainy, particularly on the inner surface where there are abundant inclusions visible, mostly grey in colour, the largest of which is 1.5mm in length though the majority are much smaller. A body sherd of a medieval vessel. The predominant colour of the fabric is grey. There are abundant mica inclusions as well as abundant small white inclusions. The inclusions are mostly visible on the inner surface and at the breaks, for the outer surface is mostly covered in a glaze which has a green patina, with moderate spots of black. Where the glaze remains the texture is quite smooth, and becomes rougher on the inner surface.

A base sherd likely from a Roman mortarium. The main colour is cream/white, which alters at one of the breaks to beige/pink at the core, and the texture is chalky. The outer surface appears dappled with brown. There appears to be moderate inclusions of mica. The most prominent inclusions are dark brown and grey and mostly angular, with some that appear darker and shinier. A complete lead or lead alloy bi convex decorated spindle whorl, of probably the Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1100 to AD 1450. The spindle whorl is sub circular in shape, and lentoid in section. The obverse and reverse have different designs. The obverse has lots of closely placed diagonal rays which terminate with a pellet. The reverse has plain diagonal rays, spaced further apart with a pellet between them. The central hole is circular in shape and has been cast / set roughly centrally. A complete copper alloy zoomorphic strap fitting or belt hook, of Post Medieval dating dating (1500 to 1600 AD). It is S shaped with an oval cross section. A zoomorphic or animal head terminal is present at both ends, with a rounded nose, and circular eye. At the centre of the S is a 'waisted' area comprising a central flower design, with leaves pointing away on both sides. A fragment of a copper-alloy stirrup of early medieval date (c.900-1100). Description: The stirrup remains as one of the lower corners. It is L-shaped in plan, the tread plate being straight, flat and downturned on one edge, the side arm being curved in profile and D-shaped in cross-section with now-worn possible moulded decoration on the outside face. A near complete cast copper-alloy mount of Roman date (c.43-410). Description: The object is in the form of a small bird with moulded wings, tail, feet and head. The eyes of the bird are deep recessed holes and would have been inlaid. The wings and tails have incised lines to depict feathers, as do the feet to represent its claws. The feet have a horizontal circular gap so that they curl around a separate copper-alloy wire, to appear as though it is sitting on a branch. This is broken underneath one of the feet.
