Roman earthenware vessel rim sherd from Derbyshire Ware jar. Diameter c.20cm (+- 2cm). Reduced fired coarse grey fabric with out-turned rim, which is slightly concave on the upper surface and convex on the lower surface. Pimply 'goose-flesh petrified' surfaces numerous white quartz and non-crystalline white inclusions, sparse non-crystalline grey inclusions. Weight 26.27g.

Oxidised fired coarse orange fabric with out-turned rim with rounded lip, which is slightly concave on the upper surface and convex on the lower surface. An abraded sherd of Roman samian pottery, probably a 2nd century AD Gaulish Dragendorff type 37 bowl. The main feature of this body sherd is the moulded decoration around the outside. The scene depicts a bull butting left; the forelegs of a second quadruped can be seen immediately above and the hind legs of a third animal (or possibly human arms?) lie to the left of the bull. In addition to the zoomorphic decoration, there is moulded grass along the bottom of the panel and, to the right of the bull, vine-like scroll. Copper alloy leg of a post-medieval skillet or pipkin, a cauldron type vessel with 3 legs. The object is anthropomorphic in style, representing a human leg and foot. The leg is triangular in section. Above the foot is a protruding lip, the foot is then flat on the floor. A leg of the same style was found in York and dates to the late 15th- early 16th centuries (Ottaway and Rogers; 2002; 2809-10) but similar styles continued until around the 18th century.

Medieval, copper alloy handle? 28mm long, 23mm wide and 7mm thick. the object is in fair condition with a dark green patina and weighs 22.89grams. The object has a sub rectangular section with curved edges and is curved slightly in form. It has broken at both ends and is decorated with one incised ring and dot, c.12mm in diameter. The object is probably a handle from a ewer or something similar?

A glass rim fragment probably from a Roman prismatic bottle, although from this fragment it is impossible to tell what shaped bottle it was from. The glass is good quality and blue green in colour. The fragment measures 32.47mm in surviving length, 12.17mm in width, weight 5.18g. The rim diameter would have been circa 50mm when complete.

Soft fabric, abundant crushed limestone fragments <1mm and very occasional larger fragments <6mm, with scattered shell and fossil fragments throughout.
