A complete copper-alloy buckle frame of Medieval to Post-Medieval date, circa AD 1250 - 1500. The buckle is D-shape in plan and single looped. It has a narrow and off-set axis bar and the outer surface has bevelled edges. The pin is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. A fragment from an ornate rectangular double looped buckle probably dating from c.AD 1350-1700. Only the outer edge of the narrow frame survives. The frame fragment is rectangular in section and has what would have been a long edge that is narrower than the outer edge. A cast copper alloy medieval annular buckle, 41.9mm in diameter and complete with pin. The frame has an oval cross section, 3.8mm in thickness, with no pin constriction. The pin is 45.4mm in length with a rounded sub rectangular cross section and a small ridged transverse grip at the junction with the loop which likely aided with the operation of the buckle. The underside of the tip of the pin is heavily worn from use. Circa late 13th-15th century.

The plate is openwork in the form of a stick figure, with stylised arms forming sub rectangular loops on either side of a slim body with bifurcating legs below, these ending in old breaks. The body and limbs are decorated with rocker arm zig zag decoration. The head is ovate and convex projecting out from the flat body and has crude features of eyes and mouth defined by deep incisions. A cast copper alloy spectacle (double loop) buckle of c.1550-1650. There are angular lobed knops at two symmetrical points on the external edge of each loop and at either end of the strap bar. The front of the buckle frame has a tapered edge on the loops and strap bar. The reverse has a plain flat surface. File marks are evident on its front surface. The loop of an iron pin is present but missing the main formation of the pin. It has suffered a wide break on one loop. An example can be seen in 'Buckles 1250-1850' by Ross Whitehead fig.382.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval oval frame from a two-piece shoe buckle, dating to c.1660-1720. An oval convex face, chamfered on the outside with a pin rest at one end. The reverse is chamfered on the inside with a thickened portion at either side, drilled to accept a separate iron spindle that is now missing along with the chape assembly. The surface displays a patchy dark green patina. Length 35.5mm, width 27.9mm, thickness 4.3mm, weight 6.7g.
