Medieval copper alloy buckle frame, thick chamfered outside edge with five filed grooves, slightly convex sides with vestigial transverse ridges at corners, narrowed rectangular-sectioned bar (length 16mm, width 16mm, 2.5mm thick). Incomplete rectangular sheet plate folded widthways, recessed for frame, with drilled hole for missing pin, broken before attachment end. Extant combined length 25.5mm. See Egan and Pritchard (1991), 96, fig.61, no.438. 14th century.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy buckle of Meols type 2 dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1400. Only the frame survives, the pin and plate missing in old damage. The frame itself is 'D' shaped in plan, with an offset thinned strap bar demonstrating small terminal knops. Preserved in good condition with an even brownish patina, it measures 10.91mm in length, 15.94mm wide by 2.38mm thick at its midpoint, and weighs 1.18g. For a similar buckle, see Egan (2007) p. 87, nos. 445/472.

A complete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1550-c. 1650). The frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. A central axis bar divides two back-to-back, elongated-D-shaped loops, each loop has a pointed knop, one having a centralled notched pin rest. A Medieval to Post-Medieval copper alloy double looped buckle, probably dating to c. AD 1350-1650. The frame comprises of two symmetrical oval loops, separated by a central bar. The bar is sub-rectangular in cross section and both loops are sub-oval. Traces of iron corrosion, probably from a lost iron pin, are present on the bar. The frame appears undecorated. Distorted medieval double-looped buckle frame, both loops rectangular, and both outside edges with baluster mouldings are bent, narrow central bar, pin missing. Length 36-7mm. Width 38.5mm. 15th century. A comparable example from London was dated to the middle of the 13th century. (Fingerlin 1971, Abb. 44 Kat. Nr. 292), and another similar piece to c.1450 - c.1600 (Whitehead 2003 no. 477).

A fragment of a large and ornate copper alloy oval buckle frame, late 12th -14th century. The fragment consists of the decorated outside edge and moulded pin rest. The moulding comprises a straight edge section incorporating three constrictions and four wider lobes. The central constriction forms a pin with two flanking lobes, each divided with a line.
