A Post Medieval iron two pronged fork with anthropomorphic bone handle dating to the late 16th-17th century. The handle has a oval cross-section and is hollow to secure the tang of the blade. The handle expands to the end and the cross-section changes to a pointed oval. The terminal is carved to form a three-dimensional human head. A fragment of iron wedge riveted mail armour, dating from the 15th- early 16th century. Most of rings retain their mobility and have not corroded together, The fragment consists of 21 rings. While wedge riveting is predominant from the later 15th century, the ring size and quality would suggest a 16th century date for this fragment. An incomplete Medieval iron prick spur dating from the late 13th century. This is a Ward-Perkins type BB(ii)8. The spur has a bolted terminal prick with short neck and strongly curving arms with a D-shaped cross section. At the end of one arm is a circular attachment terminal, the other arm is bent and broken, missing its terminal. An incomplete Early Medieval spear dating from AD 550-600. This is an Insular, Swanton series I spear head. The spear has a slender leaf-shaped blade with a corrugated cross section and a welded socket with scribed lines encircling the point of the transverse rivet at the mouth. An iron Early Medieval to Medieval horse shoe dating from AD 900-1099. This is a Type 1 (formerly 'Pre-Conquest) horse shoe. The shoe is rounded and broad with a 'lobate' edge produced when the nail holes are countersunk. There are six nail holes three on each side with large rectangular countersinking for the nail heads. The remains of one nail with a 'T' shaped head is present. The shoe has shallow calkins which are rare on Type 1 shoes and may indicate a date contemporaneous with Type 2 shoes. The locking arm or shackle is a strip of iron with a round cross section, it loops over and then passes through the locking mechanism and terminates in a knop. An incomplete Medieval iron barbed and socketed arrowhead, dating 13th-14th century. The arrow head has a triangular blade and a circular socket. The blade section tapers very gradually from the socket to the point, with barbs at the socket end which extend over the socketed section. The central spine is subtle and not well pronounced. One of the barbs is damaged and missing a small section from the blade edge. Similar examples on the database are GLO-BF0875, SF-5A266B and LON-ECF872. It is 4.2mm in maximum thickness, reducing to 0.5mm in thickness. The blade is rectangular in cross-section at the bolster end and sub-oval in cross-section at the tip.
