The flint is heavily patinated with 5% cortex on the upper right dorsal edge and next to this, at the distal end, a break revealing the dark/ black flint underneath. The patination is c.1mm thick.

The upper left dorsal edge has a very wide and sharp retouched notch 27.5mm wide, 15mm deep and in places 5.5mm high. The working is abrupt. The lower right dorsal edge has crude semi-abrupt retouch. The mesial right dorsal edge has a smaller retouched notch 12.5mm wide and 5mm deep. The flint is heavily patinated except where retouch show the dark/ black of the flint beneath.

The solid stem has a moulding of four ribs just below the bow. The bit is plain and 5.8x5.8mm. The stem extends 3mm beyond the bit. 16th/ 17th century.

Roman copper alloy probable vessel mount in the form of a bird. It measures 22.1x4.8xmax.5mm (not including attachment projection) and weighs 1.77g. The bird is D-shaped in section, and flat and even on the underside, except for the pointed beak that extends downwards (c.2mm long) and the projection at the centre, which is c.1mm diameter in section and 2.3mm long, and extends from a rectangular area 4.8x2.8x2.3mm. The flint is light grey in colour with light patination. An area of c.10% cortex survives on the chisel-shaped end.

The entire right dorsal edge has abrupt working, up to the proximal end which has a slight point extending. The upper left dorsal edge has a wide notch, semi-abruptly tooled. The lower left dorsal edge has a little light low working. the lower left ventral edge has additional low working, and semi abrupt working on the upper right edge behind the notch. The flint is light grey in colour with c.20% light patination.
