A Medieval copper-alloy strap end, dating to AD 1300-1450. It consists of two of the sub-rectangular plates, held together by two rivets. Both the plates are sub-rectangular with the lower narrow end (the strap end) narrowing into a shallow rounded point, from the apex of which projects a rounded knop. The opposing end is a straight edge. Below this in each of the corners are two rivet holes securing cylindrical rivets. The item is broken at the distal end, through the bulb of percussion leaving a sub-rectangular piece.  There may be some abrupt retouch on a small section of the ventral surface edge.  Removals from the dorsal surface could be the result of plough damage. A complete Medieval copper-alloy thimble, dating to c. AD 1400 - 1500. Although complete, the thimble has been squashed slightly and lost its original shape. A single band runs round the basal circumference. Columns of circular pits extend from the band and go all the way up to the thimbles apex.  A similar example is listed in Read B. (2018) Metal Sewing-Thimbles Found in Britain pp 26-27. The loop is sub oval in plan, with a slightly thickened and expanded outside edge. The strap bar is narrowed and off-set. Knops are present at either end of the strap bar. The buckle frame is undecorated.  Length: 15.3 mm Width: 10.1 mm Thickness: 2.5 mm Weight: 0.89 g Similar single looped D shaped buckles have been illustrated by Whitehead (1996) on page 19, no.54.

A Medieval copper-alloy oval framed buckle, dating to AD 1350 - 1400. The buckle consists of a oval frame, with a narrow offset bar and a recess for the leather strap, the pin is missing. There are two diagonally extending prominent lobed knops, both plain in decorative details. The knops are flanking a recessed central section on the outer edge. This recessed section contains a 'roller'. The pin is missing. Egan and Pritchard (1991) no 298. Length: 21.5 mm Width: 27.4 mm Weight: 4.11 g
