Flat bow of small curvature expanding towards the missing foot. The bow is decorated with fluted reeding, which runs along its entire length and terminates at the moulded transverse rib located at the bow’s junction with the spring-cover. The catch plate is deformed and partly missing but contained a single perforation of indeterminate shape. The cylindrical spring-cover is open along a slit on the back of the brooch and at either end. Only two incomplete fragments of the brooch survive. Stamped copper alloy (bronze or brass) buckle of sub-rectangular shape with a wide frame. The frame is decorated with stamped impressions of small tokens which imitate ancient coins. There are four types of token/coin impression including: a pious pelican, a horse and rider, a male classical bust looking right and a female classical bust looking left. Silver finger-ring of keeled form with triangular shoulders, which form the upper part of the hoop, projecting at an angle to the bezel. The circular bezel is plain and does not contain a setting; the shoulders are decorated with delicate linear moulding. The lower part of the hoop is plano-convex in section. The ring is worn, possibly as a result of cleaning. External diameter 21-23mm; internal diameter 14-18mm; weight 4.51grams. An example of Henig's Type VIII (1978, 38-39, fig.1) and Taylor and Scarisbrick's Type 33 (1978, 26, 39). Third or fourth century AD.
