An incomplete copper alloy sleeve clasp dating to the Early Medieval period (c. AD 450-570). It consists of a cast bar only, with a raised square or rectangular boss on either end. Between the bosses there is a semi-cylindrical shaft decorated with traverse grooved lines on the curved face. The other side is flat and undecorated. One of the bosses is broken, and the missing part would have consisted of a second D-section shaft with grooved decoration ending in a third raised rectangular boss. The object consists of a flat sub-trapezoidal plate with a projecting shaft, terminating with a split end joined by a small pin. A silver medieval cut halfpenny attributed to the baronial coinage of William of Aumale, Earl of York, produced during the reign of Stephen (1135-1154) and dating to c. AD 1150, probably struck in York.  The design showing a knight advancing right with sword on the obverse, and a cross patée in quatrefoil with annulets on cusps and in margin on the reverse is known mostly from pennies of Eustace FitzJohn (North 929).
