An incomplete retouched blade of probable Neolithic date, made from a light grey-brown flint. Only the proximal end remains; this has short abrupt scaled retouch down one or possibly both sides, perhaps suggesting that original tool was a backed blade or side scraper. The blub of percussion has been reduced on the ventral surface with long, low angle retouch.

Dark grey-brown flint blade. A thick sub-triangular flake with broad flakes struck from its dorsal side and with a bulbar ventral surface with smaller flakes struck by hard hammer working from the ventral aspect. Very short abrupt retouch executed from the dorsal aspect follows one long straight edge, possibly forming a knife on whose cutting edge pressure might be brought to bear with the user’s thumb resting in the dorsal concave surface. Dark brownish flint seems associated with early and skilful flint-working in our region. The edges are so fresh as to suggest the recent dist…

Core rejuvenation blade, most likely to be of Neolithic date (c. 4000-2500BC). Made of flint. Length = 79.0mm; width = 28.0mm; thickness – 15.0mm; weight = 25.3g. The blade is struck from a blade core with the intention to refresh the striking platform of the core to enable further blades to be removed from it. Blades from such a core could have been retouched and made into scrapers, knives, or other tools.

Secondary soft hammer struck blade, of sub-trapezoidal cross section, struck from a single platform core, of unpatinated mid-grey flint, grading to black towards the distal end, this itself if broken transversely and carries a small patch of thin cortex to the dorsal face. Both lateral edges are finely and slightly irregularly damaged, it is difficult to say if this is recent or ancient. Neolithic, 4,000 to 2,350 BC.

Semi-hard hammer struck, tertiary blade, of sub-trapezoidal cross section. Mid grey flint now patinated a misty white/light grey; recent damage to some parts of the thin edges shows the original colour of the flint to have been darker than the patination. Platform has been abraded or trimmed to the dorsal edge before this blade was struck from the core, the bulb of percussion shows a bulbar scar indicating the hammer used was soft enough to drive long flakes, yet hard enough to produce the bulbar scar. The distal end is finely retouched to the dorsal face to form a straight transverse …

An incomplete knapped lithic implement, possibly a blade or knife, of early Neolithic to Bronze Age date, c. 4000 - 1500 BC. The object is a tertiary flake, broadly triangular in plan and ovate in section. Both surface display multiple removals. Short, sub-parallel, low angle retouch is present along one edge creating a sharp cutting edge. A transverse break is present along one edge. The flint is a light grey colour with lighter white inclusions. The object is 32.5mm long, 25.3mm wide, 5.2mm thick and weighs 3.7g.

A complete knapped lithic implement of possible early Neolithic date, c. 4000 - 3500 BC. The object is a serrated blade or saw which is broadly rectangular in plan and triangular in section. The ventral surface is smooth with visible ripples of percussion. Both edges of the dorsal surface features short stepped low-angle retouch which create saw tooth serrated edge along the entire length. The flint is a light grey colour with frequent lighter inclusions. The lack of pebble cortex suggests that this object was formed from an inner (tertiary) flake.&n…
