An incomplete cast copper-alloy late Iron Age to Early Roman (AD 20-70) Colchester one-piece brooch, missing its spring mechanism and pin and the lower bow and catchplate. The short rectangular wings span 11.7mm. To the reverse of the wings are two protrusions, originally extending into the spring and pin (lower) and forward-facing hook (upper). An incomplete late Iron Age to early Roman cast zoomorphic copper-alloy strap-fitting. A strap-distributor dating to the period 50 BC - AD 50. It is incomplete insofar as at least one of the two conjoined circular loops (D-shaped in cross-section) has broken off. There are worn projections which emerge beneath the horse's head, and it is from here that a possible third circular loop projected, now broken off. Copper alloy Langton Down brooch, this has tubular wings that wrap around the spring encompassing it within a cylinder, the spring is now missing. The bow is a flat sub-rectangular cross-section bar that is truncated just below the head resulting in the loss of most of its length, the front of the brooch may have been decorated with a series of vertical lines but any detail has been removed by corrosion.
