An incomplete cast lead tablet, possibly a form of seal matrix. Probably Medieval (c. AD 1200 - c. AD 1400). Length 19.0mm, width 16.1mm and 2.4mm thick. Weight 4.87g. In plan, the object has parallel sides. One end is rounded and the opposite end is straight. The straight end may be the result of an old break. However, due to corrosion it is difficult to decide whether this is a break or whether it is a finished edge which is merely abraded. An incomplete cloth seal of Post-Medieval, seventeenth century date (AD 1600 - AD 1700). Diameter 27.0mm and 2.6mm thick. Weight 5.06g. This two-disc seal is of a type associated with imports from Haarlem in the Netherlands of a fine linen known in England as 'holland'. A Roman cast lead and iron steelyard weight. In profile the weight is an asymmetrical bi-conical with a circular section. The upper and lower apex of the weight has an incomplete iron loop. The surface of the weight is mid beige/cream. It weighs 97.6g and is 36.61mm long and 27.07mm in diameter. Barford, Blockley and Day (1984 ‘A Romano-British Steelyard From Marshfield, Avon’.) illustrate a similar shaped weight dating to the Roman period, as does Allason-Jones and Miket (1984 Catalogue of Small Finds from South Shields Roman Fort Gloucester), Nos. 8.46 and 8.47.

An incomplete cast (probably) lead powder measure cap, used for measuring a charge of gunpowder. Seventeenth century date (AD 1600 - AD 1700). Length 19.2mm, overall width 30.5mm, and 15.6mm thick. Weight 20.47g. (the weight includes some soil within). The cap, which has an indistinct rim, is squashed and distorted. Originally it would have been circular or oval in plan (as viewed from above). Medieval lead alloy seal matrix, 35mm long, 31mm wide and 3mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a cream patina and weighs 13.22gram. The matrix is circular and has a protruding knop at the upper edge. Below this is an incsribed cross which begins the inscription of which only a few letters can be made out, SIGI--NIS-----RDI. Inside the inscription is foliate decoration containing a central upright stem with three feathery protrusions, below, on either side of this is a slightly curved 'tendril' and below that a swirl. The reverse is plain.

Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch, lead. The fragment is part of the foot and catchplate. At the top the object is broken just below the bow. There is a flat rectangular plate with the remains of an incomplete catchplate on the reverse. There are two moulded transverse collars below, the uppper of which is thicker than the lower. Below the collars is an incomplete animals head. There are two large eyes represented by two moulded pellets. The forehead is D-shaped in cross-section and the snout is missing.

The seal was used to impress a trader's name and a weight in pounds. It is circular in plan and small portions of the edges are missing due to modern breaks. The matrix is sub-circular and flat, and has the broken remains of a small pierced lug at one edge of the reverse.
