A worn and corroded base silver (billon) or copper-alloy coin, probably and a late 11th to early 13th-century Byzantine trachy, possibly of Emperor Theodore Komnenos Doukas (1225-30) or Manuel Komnenos Doukas (1230-37) struck at the mints at Thessalonike (Greece). It is also possible that the coin may be a contemporary Bulgarian imitation. Ref: Morrison 2003; Dumbarton Oaks online (doaks.org).

A very base silver Early Medieval coin; a Northumbrian styca of Archbishop Wigmund (837 - 854); moneyer: Aethelweard
Pirie interprets this type of coin as being issued in the early 840s during the first reign of Aethelred II (841 - 844). The coin has a diameter of 14mm and is 1mm thick. It weighs 0.75g. The coin is corroded but in fair condition. This coin has been recorded from photographs and details kindly provided by the finder.
