Brass token made during the end of the 18th century. It is a gaming token made in the style of a George III gold Spade Guinea. These were produced in reasonable quantity for use in card and other gambling games. A date of 1701 is commonly found on these and as this date is impossible as George III reigned 1760-1820. This incorrect date prevented their use in counterfeit. In more recent times this token has been re-used as mine check. With B 89 stamped on the obverse side. One-sided lead, or lead alloy (pewter) token. It is crudely made and was probably cast. Its decorated side contains a monogram design containing the initials "I.S", above which is the date "1719", and below which is a cross-hatched design. Diameter 31-32mm, thickness 7mm, weight 40.55 grams. Although a fairly common find type little is known about the date, place of issue, function and extent of circulation of lead tokens.
