What remains is the head and part of a bow above an early break. The pin and spring are missing but part of the chord remains, held in the upper piercing of a double lug. A complete cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester derivative Harlow double-lugged of Mackreth 2011, type 3.a2 dating to the later 1st  first to early 2nd century AD. The arms are semi-cylindrical with ridged ends and enclose a copper alloy spring and pin, the elements of which are retained by the double lugs at the centre of the head. The bow is undecorated with a rounded cross section and tapers to the foot. On the underside of the foot is a deep triangular catchplate.
