Description: Fragment of a small gilded silver flat openwork mount, probably Roman in date, perhaps a rectangular fitting for belt or strap. It is sharply rectangular in cross-section, with parallel, straight sides and both ends broken. Two triangular apertures are present, along with one crescentic, and part of another. The reserved bars have a scrolly appearance, ending in roundels. No means of attachment has survived. One break is recent but the other is not, being covered in a ferrous deposit that has afflicted many metal objects on this site. Patches …

Circular medieval silver mount, with four knops around the outside, some damage to the edges. At the centre is an equal-armed cross with rounded ends, enclosed within a filigree circular border, and surrounded by six pairs of sub-square cells with X-shaped motifs incised at centre. Nondestructive X-ray fluorescence analysis of the surface of the object conducted at the British Museum show a silver content of approximately 96 per cent.

A fragmentary and incomplete sub rectangular decorative mount made of silver sheet metal, 24.4mm in length and 0.5mm thick, comprising three fragments with incised decoration to one side (the reverse side within the fold is undecorated). The largest fragment is folded in half across its mid section; the smaller fragments appear to join to one end. The strip overall appears to taper in width; one side edge has a waved or crimp-cut margin, the other appears straight. A medieval belt mount formed from a flat plate of roughly semi-circular shape. The outer frame of the mount is corrugated and a circular aperture has been cut into the centre. Three shallow, concave collets decorate the base, two of them concealing the attachment of rivets which survive on the reverse holding a fragment of textile in place.

Gilt silver Medieval bar-mount from a belt or strap. This form of bar-mount was relatively long-lived and dates from the late 12th century through to the early 15th century (Egan 1991, p13). The mount has central and end lobes and is missing one end lobe, which has broken around the perforation. The bar has a D-shaped section and the bar and end lobes are plain. The larger central lobe is decorated with incised diagonal lines around irregularly placed punched circular pellets.

A silver early medieval pyramid mount, probably dating from the 5th -7th century AD. Sub-type 1viA. The mount takes the form of a truncated pyramid with four sub-triangular faces and a square top. This is recessed and would have originally held a stone or piece of glass, this is now missing. Each of the four faces of the mount are decorated with three recessed irregular triangles, around these run a border of incised lines. A late Medieval to post-Medieval silver mount or strap fitting. The plate is roughly circular, 12.6mm in diameter, with abstract moulded decoration in the form of a flower with three rounded petals and a pierced centre, which emerges or is partially covered by a broad chevron with an exterior margin of small moulded pellets, possibly representing a crescent moon, a basket or some other object. The rear is flat, with two integral fixing studs with in-situ silver roves. These retain a small quantity of degraded organic fibres, probably the remains of a leather strap. Circa 15th-16th century.

Description: Partly distorted medieval repoussé sheet silver mount. It is circular, and the now-bent edge is decorated with twelve small bosses.
