A rim sherd from a coarseware pottery vessel. The coarse and sandy fabric seems to have been tempered with organic material which burnt out during the firing process. It is white with a brown core. A rim diameter of c54cm suggests that the vessel would have been large. It is probably Roman in date.

Two sherds, a rim and a body sherd of Roman samian ware. The rim sherd is from a Form 37 decorated bowl (de la Bedoyere 1989,84 figure H; Webster 1996, 47 fig. 32) which would have measured 180 mm in diameter when complete. It dates from circa 160 to 200 AD and is probably a South Gaulish product. The body sherd is considerably paler and more orange than the rim sherd and is likely to be a product of the Central Gaulish Lezoux industry and therefore dating from c. 120-250).
