The ring consists of a thin gold band, D-shaped in section, with a tightly set repeating pattern of tooled S-shaped indentations on the external surface, possibly for enamel, although none appears to have survived. A complete gold finger ring (Guirauid Type 9a/ Henig Type IX) of Roman date (c.200-410). Description: The ring is polygonal, however now squashed almost flat, with eight inward curving facets creating pronounced ridges between each one. The ring expands from a relatively narrow band to create an implied bezel. Here, the facets have outward curving outer edges. The surface of the ring is undecorated but is pitted and nicked.
