A fragment of a Roman greyware bowl. The fragment is from the rim and body of the vessel. The ceramic is a light grey with coarse quartz inclusions. An incomplete base of a samian ware bowl, dating AD 130-160. All that remains is part of the pedestal foot and the body, which curves slightly towards the edges which have broken away. The fabric is a light orange-pink colour with the slip being a dark orange-red. Evidence of it being wheel turned is on the base of the vessel. There is also a stamp on the internal surface, rectangular in shape, with the letters AMBITOV[---], indicating the maker was Ambitoutus who worked at the kiln in Lazoux, France. Part of the base of a Roman Alice Holt/Farnham ware beaker, dating AD 43-400. Part of the base remains, which is circular in shape. The vessel would have had a steep curve leading up to the mouth. There is significance damage along one side of the base in the form of a very angular break. The break occured in antiquity based on the wear along the breakline. An incomplete ceramic tile with hobnail impressions, dating to the Late Roman period. It is oval in shape with a light orange brown colouring. The tile is cracked and significant damage can be seen along the edges and on the back. On one side is a collection of seven circles, most likely the imprint of a hobnail boot. A fragment of a Roman samian ware mortarium, dating 1st-2nd century AD. The fragment is from the base of the vessel, with part of the body and foot remaining. The clay is a light orange with fine quartz inclusions and mica throughout. It appears to be of the micaceous Lezoux ware tradition.There are traces of a mid red glaze on all surfaces. There are traces of large granular inclusions in the inside surface of the base of the vessel, indicating the object was a mortarium. Three fragments of Roman samian ware, dating AD 100-150. The fragments come from a Draggendorf type 18/13R vessel and consist of one rim, one base and one body fragment. A fragment of a late Iron Age grog-tempered spouted strainer bowl, dating 50 BC - AD 43. The fragment is sub-circular and from the base of the vessel. There are irregularly spaced perforations across the entire surface, some filled with dirt and other concreted material. The fragment is slightly thicker at one end, suggesting a slope on the internal surface. Dimensions: diameter: 30.79 mm; thickness: 10.46 mm; weight: 8.15g. Identified by Paul Sealey, curator of archaeology at Colchester and Ipswich Museum Services.

Rim sherd of a ,Roman ceramic vessel. It is made of Haddam Red Ware with a hard, red-brown fabric and small circular voids visible in the break. The form represented is a small vessel formed by turning the clay over the front to create a lipped rime. It measures 20.04mm in width, 14.7mm in length, 6.85mm in thickness and it weighs 2.44g. This type of ware was popular in the late Roman period between 275 and 410 AD.

Burnham Hoard 2010 T509: Ceramic: The pottery in the hoard appears to produce three seperate vessel bases, giving a minimum of three vessels associated with the hoard, however only the one remained relatively in tact.
