The fragment is sub-triangular with once rounded edge and two broken and worn straight edges. The curved edge is bevelled. Eight irregularly sized and spaced circular apertures are present through the object. It is otherwise undecorated. The ceramic fabric is a mid-buff/orange colour with a soft and soapy texture. A fragment of a ceramic vessel of Roman date. The vessel is a base sherd from a shallow South Gaulish Samian Ware (terra sigillata) bowl or dish. Roman vessel rim sherd, possibly Crambeck Parchment Ware (360-410AD). Oxidised hard fired buff pale orange fabric with paler orange white surfaces and a rough laminar fracture. Abundant fine sand tempering and sparse sub angular quartzite inclusions. The surfaces appear to have been smoothed, however there is no evidence of slip or decoration. This is a beaded rim sherd, with a vessel diameter of 120mm (10% remaining), suggesting a small beaker or flagon form without handles. The sherd is 40.32mm in length, 27.93mm wide, 4.76mm thick and weighs 10.15mm.

Roman Nene Valley Colour Coated Ware sherd (AD155-425). Oxidised hard fine fabric with a smooth fracture, pale yellow orange with abundant fine sand inclusions and occasional black flecks. Slip is a dark brown-black, worn but present on both interior and exterior. This is possibly a body sherd with a raised ridge moulding, similar to examples on Potsherd.
