An incomplete Roman copper-alloy buckle, dating to c.AD 300 - 410. Half of the buckle frame remains. Hawkes and Dunning Type IIA. The remaining fragment is C shaped in plan and semi-circular in section, it is formed of a dolphin with a gaping jaw. A large ring and dot motif forms the eve and a large fin covers the dolphins back. An incomplete Roman copper alloy British plate brooch, a dished cone type, dating from AD 75 - 300. The brooch is circular and has a concave sided cone rising from the plate, this has now dished inwards. A Roman copper-alloy harness mount, dating to c. AD 43 - 100. The mount is circular in plan and slightly D-shaped in section. A probably contemporary copy of a Roman silver denarius of Caracalla (AD 198-217), dating to c. AD 199-211 (Reece Period 10), PART MAX P M TR P VI (P P) or VI(II), Two captives seated either side of trophy. Prototype Mint probably Rome. This coin is problematic because the obverse type and general reverse type were not used together. Furthermore, the reverse legend is not a normal one, the closest being a PART MAX P M TR P VIIII(?) 'barbarous' piece in the BM (RIC IV, pt 2, p. 263, no. 328). The coin does appear quite base. Diameter: 19.31 mm Weight: 2.88 g
