Large scraper made from an opaque, grey-brown flint with some inclusions. There is a small area of cortex at one end. Both the dorsal and ventral faces show signs of a conchoidal fracture although the scars are weakly defined and may reflect natural fracture. Retouch extends across the upper right hand side of the flint (as shown) and down the right hand side. Flint scraper of late prehistoric date. Fragment of a light grey, opaque flint cobble, cortex surviving in one area. The cobble was broken by natural agencies and was recorticated before being retouched to form two scraping edges; one a deep notch, the other a crude, straight edge. both were made using short, scaled, abrupt retouch. ‘Plough pebble’ made from a natural quartz on has been worn a worn, polished surface covered in fine striations. This surface is curved in one direction with one edge having a sharper radius, the striations run at 90o to the curve and the surface is flat in this direction. Copper alloy disc, probably the head from a Middle Anglo-Saxon pin. The decoration is partially obscured by corrosion with one edge torn. It was reported that the disc was gilded but it has not been possible to verify this. The disc bear a cross with expanding arms the edges of which are marked by incised lines. Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age flint knife, made from blade of opaque Lincolnshire Wolds flint/ Dorsal face flat, showing the use of a soft hammer. Ventral face bears two main facets and at one end is an area of neat retouch, invasive, sub-parallelled, low angle. The knife has been burned and its surfaces are covered with craze-cracking. Medieval copper alloy seal matrix, circular with an off-set loop in its back. On its face is the figure of a Lion Rampant holding between its forepaw a 'garb' (sheaf) of wheat. The inscription reads *SIGILLV(M) COMMVNE VILLE DE MACCLESFELD, or common seal of the town of Macclesfield, the lion and garb being long associated with the town. Early Medieval pin fitted with a lose, trapezoid, spangle on its head. The shank tapers to a point from 3.2mm diameter and bears traces of iron corrosion products showing it to have been in contact with an iron object. Its upper section is square and decorated with multiple transverse moulding and two faceted areas.
