An incomplete cast copper alloy vessel foot of Roman date. The object is crudely pelta shaped, with a central triangular projection and flanking lobes on one edge, the other being convex. The object is covered by soil, with areas of corrosion disrupting the dark green patinated surface. One end of the object is broken, leading to a reduced length. Pelta shaped vessel feet are well documented, with many examples recorded on the PAS database (e.g. PUBLIC-749A73 and ESS-8C8A14), and excavated from Roman contexts such as in Caerleon (Brewer, 1986, pg. 173). A complete copper alloy dirk of Middle Bronze Age date (more precisely c. 1550 - 1350BC).
