Part of a silver locket pendant or reliquary pendant which has been pierced to reuse as a pendant, probably dating from the 16th or 17th century. It is 20.52mm long, 17.99mm wide and 3.05mm thick. It weighs 1.26g. The object is an oval sheet of silver. One face is incised with the figure of a nun or woman wearing a wimple and with a halo. Her wrists and hands protrude from a habit and it is possible that she is holding an open book, but if so, the vertical lines representing the sides and spine of the book are missing. An incomplete cast copper alloy enamelled disc (sexfoil) brooch of Roman date ( A.D. 80- A.D. 250). In plan the plate is circular with a raised border and raised design. At the centre is a raised copper alloy pellet. In the field surrounding the centre pellet the enamel is complete and red in colour. The outer cell is empty although there are small traces of red enamel on the outer edges of the arms of the star.
