A fragment of a late Roman copper-alloy openwork belt fitting (c. 375-c. 409). This fragment is part of the frame and the rear face is partially obscured by a deposit of corroded iron. The frame is flat on both faces. Prior to being broken this surviving part was in the form of an openwork lozenge containing a square centre-piece with rounded corners which is held by arms extending from the inner corners of the lozenge. A complete post-Medieval silver three-part swivelling strap fitting of probable 16th century date. Treasure case no. 2013 T333. It has a central hollow box-like link with a swivelling attachment loop at each end. The link is rectangular in plan and roughly square in cross-section. Each similar recessed face has a pair of rectangular openings. A complete cast copper alloy strap slide or guide of Medieval date (c. AD 1350 - c. AD 1400). Length: 17.6mm; width: 25.6mm; thickness: 3.6mm; weight: 2.65g. The frame is sub-rectangular in plan and sub-rectangular in cross-section. The outside edge of the loop is angled and the bar has a circular perforation to accommodate a separate rivet, now missing. This strap fitting has a patchy mid-green patina interspersed with superficial copper alloy corrosion products.
