Lead cap from a powder measure (also called a powder-charger), complete but deformed, having been squashed in the ground. It is in the form of a cup or bucket of oval shape, 18.45mm by 14.52mm . The oval base has an additional loop at each end of the oval, and the cup has a thickened rim 2mm wide around the top. Length 30.94mm, width 14.52mm, 17.53mm high. Weight 18.55g. These caps fitted on to the top of wooden powder chargers, each of which held the right amount of powder for a single charge of a gun. An incomplete and corroded Medieval lead pointed-oval (vesica-shaped) personal seal matrix (c. 1200-c. 1300). A complete Medieval lead pilgrim ampulla (c. 1300-c. 1500). This ampulla is complete but the attachment lugs/loops are corroded. This object is sub-rectangular in plan, sub-rectangular in cross-section and sub-triangular or wedge-shaped in side view. A complete post-Medieval solid cast-lead toy or gaming piece in the form of an owl (c. 1700-c. 1800). The standing (or perched) owl is integral with a sub-circular misshapen flat base. The owl is convex and moulded at the front and flat at the rear. At the front, the raised eyes and beak are clear. Its body plumage at the front is represented by raised cross hatching. An incomplete cast lead steelyard weight of possible Roman date (AD 43-410). This weight is spheroid in form and has a slightly flattened base. There are the remains of an embedded iron suspension loop at the top. Around the periphery there are inscribed marks: VIΛ with a saltire cross within a square to the left with two vertical linear grooves above. Height: 41.8mm; diameter: 47.3mm. Weight: c. 546.0g. The surface is largely off-white and powdery. Within crevices there are flecks of a brown patina.

An incomplete Modern cast-lead pencil sharpener of 19th century date (c. 1850-c. 1900). The lower part is hollow and cone-shaped to house the pencil. It has a rim at the base and a vertical slot at one side. On the opposite side of the slot there is a raised cartouche or similar feature with possible initials. A fragment of a cast lead Medieval seal matrix, late 12th to 13th century. The seal, when complete, would have been pointed oval in plan. The die has a cross potent initial mark with the end of an inscription which reads: HEI (the beginning is missing). At the centre is an engraved 8-pointed star within an engraved pointed oval border. The rear face has a suspension loop below which is a raised rib that extended along the median centre-line. A deliberate cut has been made adjacent to the suspension loop and rib. A complete cast lead or lead alloy circular double-sided token of post-Medieval to Modern date (c. 1500-c. 1850). The token has a raised initial letters: T (or I) C on one side and a raised grid pattern on the other side. Diameter: 16.5mm; weight: 2.56g. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally, they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are thought to date c.1500-1850 AD.

The mount is square in plan and has an ornate moulded rim formed by evenly spaced acanthus leaf-like motifs. Within this rim is a raised square frame which has moulded decoration consisting of evenly spaced and ‘over-lapping’ crescent-shaped motifs. The area inside this frame is formed by a slightly raised cushion, perforated at the centre to accommodate and iron rivet or spike, now incomplete. A cast lead flint holder for a hand-gun of probable late 18th century date (c. 1750-c. 1800). The object is ‘tongue-shaped' and the curved edges of the front face are regularly serrated. Close to the straight end there is an irregular shaped aperture (11.0 x 6.1mm). At the front, within the serrated border, raised marks read: 1811 or 18H or 78H. The rear face is plain and flat. 31.9 x 29.4 x 1.6mm. Weight: 10.57g. Similar lead holders have been found on the foreshore immediately in front of the Tower of London (national armoury store). A complete cast lead cloth seal of Modern date (c. 1800-c. 1900). A two disc seal with a rectangular connecting strip. Disc 1: Scratch marks including Roman numeral VI. Disc 2: Broad arrow (on rivet), W ?D below. The object has an even buff patina. 40.7 x 31.7 x 4.9mm. Weight: 20.61g. The broad arrow signifies that the cloth seal was probably used on cloth belonging to the War Department. A similar cloth seal has been recorded from West Clandon Parish, Surrey.
