The brooch comprises the lower bow, foot and catch plate. The lower bow is sub-oval in cross-section with a narrow longitudinal ridge off-centre and stepped sides. The bow narrows to the pointed foot. On the reverse is a flat triangular catch plate projecting at 90 degrees. The outer edge of the catch plate is slightly recessed before bending inwards on itself to form the pin housing. The plate is unperforated and undecorated. …
