Copper alloy 'petalled knop' from a Roman trumpet dating to the late 2nd to early 3rd century AD. The object takes the form of a flower consisting of 26 petals around a central ring with a rounded projection at the centre.The rear of the object is largely plain with a shallow grooved around the outer edge.In the centre is a sub-rectangular projection with three circular openings.The object has a dark green patina. Plain gold posy-ring. The thin, slightly misshapen hoop is of flattened-D cross-section, and the outer surface is cast and plain. The inner face of the hoop is inscribed with the text: Wheare this I give I wish to live, in italic script. Near complete copper alloy matrix. The matrix is pointed oval in shape and is flat with a pierced lug stemming from a raised central tapered rib. The seal matrix is of an ecclesiastical type. Circumstances of discovery and reporting A ceramic pot containing 2733 Roman silver and copper alloy coins was discovered by David Henry Moss and Tom Taylor on 22nd December 2018 in Caerhun Community, Conwy.  The hoard was found while metal detecting on cultivated land that was under pasture at the time. The top of the pot was discovered at a depth of about 30cm below the surface of the field, at the top of a slight mound. In a generally corroded condition and incomplete. The unusual feature of this particular example is the rectangular or square head plate from which the circular trumpet head emanates. The head plate is incomplete but is assumed to have supported an integral head loop. At the back of the trumpet mouth are the corroded remains of what appears to be a hinge mechanism.
