I have examined four coins reported found at Longworth CP, Oxfordshire.  All are official late-medieval silver coins, with a fineness, therefore, of 90.5% silver, i.e. sterling standard. All the coins are one denomination, the groat of fourpence, the highest-value silver coin then in use.  There are two of Edward IV and two of Henry VII the earliest dating to 1464-70 and the latest to the years around 1509 (see detailed list below). A complete silver gilt Pin of Post-Medieval date (AD 1500-1600). The object is a decorated silver-gilt pin with applied (soldered) filigree decoration to the head. The head is spherical with a circumferential double rib separating the upper and lower hemispheres. The ribs have repeating short, incised, transverse lines covering them. Each hemisphere is decorated with five domed bosses with an upper and lower pellet between, and a ring surrounding each domed aspect. Description:  A fragment from a silver bodkin dating from AD 1600 - 1700. Only the terminal survives. The bodkin has an oval terminal which is dished, being convex on one surface and concave on the other= to create a scoop that is c.5mm wide.
