Description: Incomplete post-medieval gilded silver dress hook, probably a hat-hook, with a plate in the shape of an openwork portcullis. Three sides of the central lattice survive, with five vertical bars and four horizontal bars divided by small, roughly square holes.Two of the vertical bars have an expanded, arrowhead-shaped point at one end (the base of the portcullis); there are fairly fresh scars from two missing points and a worn break where the fifth is missing. A late to post medieval cast copper-alloy 'heavy duty' domed thimble, probably dating to c.1400-1600. A gently tapering cylindrical body with a domed apex. At the base is a 3.3mm plain grooved band, with sub-circular drilled indentations above, left spiralling to the top. There are three perforations in the top where the drill or 'needle' has penetrated the surface, that displays a dark green patina. It is similar to Read 104, likely a variant of this. Height 22.1mm, base diameter 19.9mm, wall thickness 1.4mm and weight 7.8g.

A late to post medieval cast copper-alloy oval 'spectacle' buckle frame dating to c.1350-1650. The buckle has a sub-oval frame with rounded outside edges and in-curved sides. A narrowed strap-bar divides the frame forming two D-shaped loops. It is bevelled on the outside of the face and on the inside of the loops on the reverse. The surface displays a patchy green patina with traces of black lacquer. Length 23.2mm, width 19.3mm, thickness 1.8mm and weight 2.7g. Cf; R Whitehead (2003) 'Buckles 1250-1800' p.53, no.295.
