Copper Alloy Button (possibly repurposed into a pendant?). The button is circular in shape and has a convex obverse. The obverse decoration appears to resemble a sun? The decoration includes a small circle in the centre and 5 wavy 'rays', which radiate from the centre to the perimeter, there also appears to be more 'rays' between these, but no not seem attached. There is a circular perforation at 12 o 'clock, possibly indicating that this button was repurposed as a pendant. The surface of the button is uneven and has a green and brown patina. The reverse is concave and is undecorated.…

A hollow post Medieval silver button made from sheet metal, in the form of an acorn. One half of the cup is textured or stippled with punch marks, the other side is smooth, with two small pierced blow holes. This asymmetry may suggest an intended orientation to the object when worn. There is a small knop at the apex of the acorn and a scar for a missing attachment loop on the base. The button is slightly flattened and has a dent in one side.

Description: Incomplete silver cast hollow plano-convex circular button. The front would have been domed and perhaps decorated, but most of it is missing. The back is flat and has two circular blow holes, one either side of the incomplete attachment loop. Dimensions: 4.9mm high; 13mm in diameter Discussion and Date: Broadly similar examples abound on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database (e.g. 2012 T950, NMS-313FF1) and are dated to the 17th century. In London, such buttons seem not have been produced after this time (Egan 2005, 50).
